How Westcountry Savings and Loans are on their way to achieving their goals with new experienced staff.
The Background
Westcountry Savings and Loans is the largest not-for-profit credit union in the South-West. They offer an ethical alternative to traditional banking and credit institutions, with transparent and affordable products and services. They are dedicated to helping their 3,400 plus members achieve their financial goals and pride themselves on providing excellent customer service and support.
The Goal
Improve the financial wellbeing of those living in the Southwest by providing affordable loans and savings accounts to more of its members and increasing awareness.
Finally, they aim to grow the number of regional business partners that want to provide saving schemes and ethical loan products to their employees.
The Solution
The achievement of this goal required them to hire two new skilled and experienced staff members (specifically in Marketing and Finance) to revitalize WSL’s marketing strategy and spread the message of financial wellbeing to the local community.
After several independent attempts to put out job vacancy alerts on job boards and tens of interviews without finding qualified and experienced candidates, Westcountry Savings and Loans approached CU Recruitment for their professional recruitment services. They were looking for a Marketing Officer and a Financial Wellbeing Officer.
CU Recruitment began by drawing up a compelling job description, sending out alerts to their wide network, putting out adverts on additional job boards, and headhunting candidates directly. In a short time, they were shortlisting interested candidates to be interviewed by Westcountry.
The Results
The hiring process resulted in the recruitment of 2 skilled and experienced staff members who took on their positions with energy and have already made great headway towards achieving Westcountry’s goals.
The Marketing Officer and Financial Wellbeing Officer have each brought their unique skills and backgrounds to the table with remarkable impact. For instance, the Marketing team already has a cohesive and successful marketing plan that is already seeing results. The Finance Wellbeing Officer’s diverse expert background in financial and non-profit organisations has also made a great impact in spreading Westcountry’s message.
Both staff members have the skills and knowledge necessary to help the business grow. But more importantly, they share the same company values as Westcountry and are a good fit for their team culture.
